1. Gibralfaro viewpoint

Located on the Gibralfaro hill overlooking Malaga, the Gibralfaro viewpoint offers amazing views of the city and mountains surrounding Malaga. And is there anything more romantic than a stunning sunset over a beautiful city? We think not! You can reach the viewpoint on foot, it’s a 20-25 mins walk up the hill but remember that it can be quite a challenge! You can also take bus 35 from Paseo del Parque to reach the top.

2. Muelle Uno and Port of Malaga

The ports seem to have some romantic quality about them. Maybe it’s because of the sailors who had to say goodbye to their loved ones before leaving on a new sea voyage? There is one thing we are sure about – Muelle Uno and Port of Malaga are perfect places for a date!

This fashionable area of Malaga offers you a wide choice of things you can do. Take a slow stroll along the waterfront promanade under a stunning modern construction, eat a meal in one of the many restaurants, watch the ships and yachts docked in the Port, enjoy a drink and watch a sunset from one of the many bars… Or invite your date for a sunset cruise! There are some boats and katamarans providing short cruises around the city’s coastline for quite moderate prices (starting with 12 euros). We are sure you will spend a perfect evening here!

3. Plaza de la Merced

Are you looking for a perfect spot for a romantic dinner in Malaga? Look no further! Plaza de la Merced is probably the most famous square in Malaga. The first reason is Picasso who was born in the house located by the square. His statue is sitting on a bench just in front of it! You can actually visit his Birthplace Museum or walk just a little bit further and explore Musem Picasso (to read more about museums in Malaga click here).

6. Peñón del Cuervo beach

peñon del cuervo beach

If you’re looking for a more secluded spot to enjoy the sunset or a picnic at the beach Peñón del Cuervo is the place you’re looking for! This wild beach with unique rock formation is a perfect place for a romantic day! It is located east of Malaga Center, a little further form El Palo district.

The best way to get there is by car but you can also use public transport – take a suburban bus M-160, M-161 or M-163 from the bus station by the Port (around 20 mins trip) and leave the bus at Gasolinera El Candado, from there you have only 10 minutes walk to the beach.

Make sure to take some snacks and drinks with you as there are no shops, restaurants or services on this one. But we’re sure that the view will be worth it!

7. San Antón

If you’te a little more adventurous we have a real treat for you! Why don’t you take your date to another level and go on a hike together? The peak of San Antón mountain offers the most stunning views of the city and the most beautiful sunsets you can imagine.

san anton view

The easiest way is to reach it by car, follow the Avenida San Antón until the end of the road; you can leave your car there. From there it is another 30-40 minutes hike until you reach the peak, the Cross at the top of Monte San Antón.  Alternatively you can take a bus either to El Palo (3 or 11) and walk from there (around 1,5h) or take the bus 29 that stops closer to the hiking trail.

Monte San Antón is a little challenging  due to lose rocks so be sure to wear sport shoes and bring enough water. The view will be worth it however, as you not only get to see the entire city but also the surrounding mountains and the coast line. Take a blanket, some food and wine and have a picnic during the sunset – a perfect plan for a one-of-a-kind date.

We hope that you will find our list of the most romantic spots in Malaga useful! We’re sure that you’ll surprise our second half with a unique date in this beautiful city.
