The name of this square comes from the church situated in it that is “La Iglesia del Socorro” (Assistance church in English). One of the peculiarities of Plaza del Socorro of Ronda is the statue of Hercules that we will find here, finding out together why this mythological hero and Andalusia are related
The bullfight is an old tradition all around Andalusia but especially in Ronda. We will learn together how it evolved during the times, discovering facts about some important families of bullfighter and about a special kind of bullfight, “La Corrida Goyesca”. From this Paseo we can reach one of the most beautiful viewpoints where we can appreciate a slice of the astonishing view of the Serrania of Ronda and of all the nature that surrounds this city. The name recalls Blas Infante, an important political figure in Andalusia.
Puente Nuevo (New Bridge) was built to connect the old part of Ronda with the new one. The adjective new has been given to differentiate it from the Old bridge (Puente viejo) existing before. Puente Nuevo was built in 1735 but after six years it collapsed. We will give a look to this magnificent bridge talking about its architecture, its history and its legends.
This church is the main church of Ronda and it has a very peculiar shape. It was built on the old Mosque of the city, of which maintains some rests. Moreover its most surprising feature is the balcony that allows the view on the main square.
The Old Bridge of Ronda took this name after the new bridge of the city was built. It is also known as the Roman Bridge even if, for the historians it is a muslim bridge.
